You want your heavy duty coat hangers to stay where they belong.  Camden-Boone's extra heavy duty coat hanger 117-003 has an anti-theft closed loop hanger and is made of chrome plated 3/16" steel.

The closed loop design keeps your coat hanger from accidentally being mistaken for someone else's coat hanger.

These are designed for heavy use.  Can they be bent?  Certainly, but you have to intend to do so.  You can break rocks if you put your mind to it.  But, if one of these breaks in normal use, we'll replace it free. Yes, we consider firehouse bunker gear and wetsuits to be normal use. Your winter coat isn't going to bother this coat hanger.

The slender design executed in chrome plated steel allows you to put more hangers in the same space than you could with wood or commercial plastic coat hangers.

One caveat about anti-theft coat hanger designs: The closed loop is great if you're putting in new coat racks.  However, if you're thinking of adding these to existing coat racks, please note you need to be able to access the end of the coat rod to install this type.  If you can do that without much trouble, great!  But if you prefer not to take existing coat racks apart, but still want an anti-theft design, you may want to review the ball-top version of these hangers.

There are three head options: the 117-003 closed loop pictured here, an open hook, and a ball-top for use with A, B, or C hanger rod receptacles.
